Knowclip - Turn any video into multimedia language-learning flashcards

Hi there 👋 I've been working on Knowclip as a side project for almost two years now, and I'm super stoked to finally be sharing the first beta release with you. It's free and open source, so if you're interested in learning a new language, please don't hesitate to check it out! Knowclip is the accumulation of all my 17 years' experience in language learning, most of which was wasted on ineffective methods, both in and outside the classroom. It's the app I wish I had when I was starting out, with a friendly UI designed to gently nudge you towards form the one crucial habit every successful language learner must adopt--the habit of maximizing your exposure to authentic native speech. It hooks up to the popular flashcard program Anki, but it's useful even without it. If you've got subtitles files for your video or audio file, you can import them into Knowclip and navigate through the dialog at your own pace. In the end, the goal is to make native material approachable for you as a language learner--you bring your own media, be it your favorite TV show, movie, or audiobook, so you can curate your own learning experience. I already have lots of ideas of how the app can be improved, but since this is something I've been doing in my spare time, who knows when I'll get to them 🙂 In the meantime, go ahead and download it for free, and enjoy learning a new language!
