When I joined Scrimmage in the position of "Flask backend developer" I was freelancer #32. The code base was messy, the product had no clear direction and bugs were everywhere. Not after I took over the development, fired the wrong people, and hired the right ones. Then, I joined Scrimmage as a co-founder, then made it through Techstars and successful fundraising. Since that time we executed 3 pivots and hit an eventual product market fit. I have seen dozens of startups fail because of badly executed tech. I believe that finding the right person to execute your vision is as important as finding the right problem to solve. KavunUA started 1 year back when one of my friends from LA asked me to find some devs for an upcoming project. I brought some of my friends on board and was blessed to compare them to a couple of other agencies my client was working with during the MVP execution. That is when I realized that the problem of finding long-term tech partners is a real problem and platforms like Upwork are not solving it at all with their strict policies, lack of guidance, and short-term orientation. Freelance has become more like a taboo for startups, but I believe it shouldn't. Freelance it is not the end, it is the beginning of potential long-term relationships.
