Oasis Browser: Assistant Color Themes

A small thing that matters when you live in an AI sidebar all day: the assistant should feel like your workspace, not a generic gray panel tied only to macOS light or dark.

Insight for other users: Oasis includes seven assistant chrome themes (mix of light and dark). They style the assistant UI only (sidebar, header, chat chrome). They do not recolor the websites you browse. Your pick is saved and reapplied through Oasis prefs and the assistant bridge, so it sticks across sessions.

The seven themes (with screenshots on our doc page):

  • Stargazer (dark, night-sky feel on the new tab page)

  • Sepia (warm light tones while summarizing)

  • Workspace (clean light sidebar, works well with tab groups)

  • Sky (bright, airy chrome on content-heavy pages)

  • Forest (green-forward dark theme)

  • Amethyst (purple-tinted chrome)

  • Desert (warm desert palette, great for long reading sessions)

How to try it: Open the theme picker from the assistant header menu, preview options, and choose what fits your light or dark preference. You can often pick separately per appearance mode when that option is offered.

Questions we would love your take on:

  1. Chrome vs whole browser
Should themes stay assistant-only, or would you want optional browser-wide theming that still respects site readability?

  2. Which themes matter
Of the seven above, which two would you ship on day one if you were us? What is missing (high contrast, OLED black, brand-neutral gray)?

  3. Productivity vs vibe
Do themed assistants help you focus, or is it mostly aesthetic? Any theme that actually changed how long you kept the panel open?

  4. System settings
We note that some high-contrast OS settings can still nudge base colors. Have you seen clashes on Mac or Windows we should fix first?

  5. For the Oasis team
If you tried Oasis, did you find the theme picker easily from the header menu? Did you expect it to change webpage colors?

We are adding themes over time. Tell us what you want next in the comments.
