I Never Thought I'd Build Software. Here's Why I Started.

For years, I admired people who could turn ideas into products. I never imagined I'd be one of them. I've been part of the Product Hunt community for more than three years, quietly discovering incredible products, supporting makers, and thinking, "Maybe one day I'll build something of my own."

For a long time, that felt unrealistic.

My background is in Civil Engineering, not software development. I had plenty of ideas but very little coding knowledge, so building software always seemed out of reach.

Then AI changed the way I learned.

Instead of waiting until I knew everything, I started learning by building. It hasn't been easy - there have been bugs, confusing AI outputs, and plenty of moments where I questioned whether I was making any progress. But every challenge taught me something new.

My first public project is UtilityKits, but what excites me even more is the journey ahead. My goal isn't just to launch products - it's to build software that solves everyday problems while respecting users' time, privacy, and trust.

I'm here because I want to learn from experienced makers, share my progress honestly, celebrate small wins, learn from failures, and hopefully contribute back to this community over time.

I'd love to ask one question:

What's one lesson you wish someone had told you before you built your first successful product?

Hi ! Sorry, I'm not an experienced builder but my main goal is the same as your : solving every day problem for "normal" person (non coder person). Do you have the link of your UtilityKits ? I'd love to try it !

@ajaymauli71 Your product is absolutely amazing. I love the favicon generator ! I've encountered this problem so often. Also, it is great to have the limit of characters by platforms on the text one. Congratulations !

I'm glad you found the favicon generator useful that's exactly the kind of everyday problem I want to solve. The character counter was built with the same idea: small tools that save people time without unnecessary complexity.

I'm already working on the next version, with more utilities, a better overall experience, and a stronger focus on privacy. It's still a work in progress, but I'll definitely share updates as it evolves.
