Hi Product Hunters! What's your best piece of advice for app builders?
Hi Product Hunters, I’m Jake
I’ve spent 10+ years in marketing, launched beers for Greene King, spent 5 years in the crypto trenches with Animoca Brands, and now I’m building apps to help people reduce screen time
The biggest thing I’ve learned across all of those worlds is that complexity kills
The stuff you can explain in one sentence and build quickly often ends up being the stuff that works
My current project is Reclaim
It’s a screen time app built on the assumption that app blockers don’t really work
Instead of blocking apps after the behaviour has already happened, Reclaim uses social accountability
The goal is to use competition to drive behaviour change, instead of building another tool that waits until you’ve already opened the app
I’m still early in the build, so I’d love advice from anyone who has launched an app before
What’s one thing you wish you knew before building or launching yours?

Love the angle on using social accountability instead of just blockers! From launching a few apps myself (one even hit product of the day), the biggest lesson was that outreach...outreach...outreach makes all the difference. If you're up for it, I'm launching on PH soon...would appreciate a follow (See "PRODUCT HUNT LAUNCH" Link in my profile) for The Sponge, an AI-powered flashcard app that turns anything into study material.
