Hi Product Hunt — I’m Vasyl, a solo founder building in EU tax tech

Hi everyone! I’m Vasyl, a Ukrainian developer currently based in Germany.

My background is mainly in frontend development and e-commerce, but over the past year I’ve been expanding into backend engineering, infrastructure, security, and product development while building my first startup as a solo founder.

I’m currently working on VAT Engine, an EU VAT calculation and compliance platform for developers and e-commerce teams. I started it after seeing how quickly VAT becomes fragmented across countries, product categories, transaction dates, thresholds, integrations, and reporting workflows.

Building it has pushed me far beyond writing interface code. I now work across Go, Next.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, APIs, commerce integrations, testing, security, documentation, and the less comfortable founder tasks such as positioning, outreach, and customer discovery.

I joined Product Hunt to:

• learn from founders who have taken technical products from alpha to real adoption

• get better at explaining complex products clearly

• exchange honest product and engineering feedback

• meet developers, e-commerce founders, and people working in fintech or compliance

• become more comfortable sharing work publicly

I’m especially interested in how other solo founders balance building, validation, marketing, and knowing when a product is ready enough to charge for.
