Hi PH! Solo dev who built the study app he couldn't find in his own language

by

I'm SunTzu, a solo developer.

Two things nearly stopped me when I started studying for IT certifications. First: every decent study resource assumes English is your first language. Mine isn't. Subnetting is hard enough without translating it in your head at the same time. Second: the real skill these exams test is not intelligence, it is showing up every single day, and nothing I found was built for that.

So I built the tool I kept wishing existed: CertOwl, five-minute daily lessons for the CompTIA exams, spaced repetition flashcards, and full exam simulations, in six languages, working fully offline. I made the complete A+ and Network+ tracks free, because that is where everyone starts and where most people give up.

It launches here on Product Hunt tomorrow morning, which for a one-person team is equal parts exciting and terrifying.

A question for the community: those of you who passed a professional certification, what was harder, the material itself or just staying consistent? That question is basically the reason my app exists.
