Hi everyone. I am currently a graduate student majoring in life sciences.
I built this because I kept running into the same problem when learning languages myself: words I "learned" through vocab-memorization apps still didn't register when I saw them in an actual article. What actually made a word stick was looking it up while reading something I was genuinely interested in — having to understand it in that specific context.

So Contexta flips the usual approach: instead of memorizing word lists first, you start by reading something you actually want to read. Paste in an article, drop a news link, or upload a PDF — just read it normally. Whenever you hit a word or sentence you don't understand, highlight it, and the AI explains it right there in context. It's automatically saved for you, and later you review it with spaced repetition.

There's also an "immersion mode" that gradually swaps words in your native-language text for target-language words based on your level, instead of the all-at-once, fully-foreign-text approach that scares people off.

It supports 12 languages, not just English. There's a free trial quota, so you can try it without plugging in your own AI API key first.
