Building the type of Desktop Software that doesn't exist yet.
Hi Product Hunt, I'm Kabelo, a solo founder from Pretoria, South Africa. I built Hover on a 2011 PC with no dedicated graphics card, and today it's live. 🙂
It started as a personal itch. To jot down a thought, I had to find an app, open it, sign in and start typing. By then the thought was half gone. I searched for a long time for an app that worked the way I wanted, couldn't find one, so in March I started building it.
Hover is an overlay that stays invisible until you need it:
• Press Ctrl+Space and a note is right there. No app to open.
• Notes bind to the app or site you wrote them in, and come back when you return to it.
• Smart Capture: crop anything on your screen and ask about it, without leaving your work.
• Wordy and Voice: look up any word, and talk instead of typing.
I didn't want one more app to manage. I wanted a companion that works alongside me.
It's Windows only for now, and the installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen will show a warning. Click "More info", then "Run anyway". The last image in the gallery shows exactly how.
I'd love your honest feedback, bugs included. What's one thing you wish your desktop remembered for you?
