10 Years in Germany, Countless Side Projects, One Launch
Hi everyone!
I'm Amr; I've been living in Germany for almost 10 years.
I have always enjoyed building things that solve real problems. Recently, I launched StadtVergleich, a platform that helps people compare German cities using official data instead of opinions and generic rankings.
The idea came from a personal frustration. While considering a move to another city, I found myself jumping between Reddit threads, government statistics, and countless SEO-heavy articles. There was plenty of information available, but very little clarity.
That experience led me down a rabbit hole of public datasets, city rankings, and quality-of-life metrics—and eventually into building a product.
What I'm currently learning:
Product distribution is much harder than product development.
Data cleaning takes longer than expected.
People care deeply about where they live, but everyone values different things.
Outside of work, I enjoy exploring German cities, side projects, and learning from other founders.
I'd love to connect with fellow builders, especially anyone working on:
data products
marketplaces
relocation/travel tools
AI-powered products
bootstrapped startups
What are you building right now, and what's the biggest challenge you're facing?
Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Wow, this looks super useful! Turning scattered data into clear city comparisons is a game‑changer for anyone planning a move. I’m building The Sponge, an AI‑powered flashcard app that turns any web page into study material – we’re launching on PH soon. Would love a follow if you’re up for it!
