IngreLens - Scan the label. Match your health. Choose smarter.

by
Most food scanners tell you what the general public thinks of a snack. IngreLens tells you what it means for YOU. Built by indie developers, it’s a personal health shield that cross-references food and medicine labels against your unique medical profile, dietary goals, and allergies in seconds. IngreLens is an intelligent mobile application designed to bridge the gap between complex, confusing product labels and your unique personal health profile.

Hi Product Hunt community! 👋 I’m thrilled to introduce IngreLens: Your Personal Health Shield. 💡 What inspired us & the problem we solved We’ve all been there: standing in the kitchen or grocery aisle, squinting at a tiny, complex nutrition label packed with chemical names, hidden sugars, and confusing fine print. As a team (Binary Brains: Anusha Muhuri, Megha Mondal, Trinanjana Datta), we realized that existing health and food scanners have a major flaw: they give a one-size-fits-all score. But what is "healthy" for the general public might be completely wrong for someone managing diabetes, strict low-sodium goals, or specific allergies. We wanted to build a tool that doesn’t just judge food generically, but answers the question: Is this safe and healthy for ME? 🔄 How our approach and process evolved When we first started building IngreLens during Dorahack 2.0 by DoraDAO, our initial scope was pretty basic: just a quick barcode scanner to pull up public nutritional data. However, as we built and tested, our vision expanded significantly: Adding Medicine Safety: We realized that confusing labels aren't just a food problem, people face the exact same guesswork with medicine directions and safety. We integrated dual coverage for both food and medicine. Hyper-Personalization: We shifted away from generic ratings and built a profile engine where users can input their exact health goals, medical conditions, and allergies. Smart OCR Fallbacks: Since not every local or imported product has a barcode in a global database, we prioritized robust OCR camera capture so users can scan any label anywhere, anytime. 🚀 Try it out & Let us know what you think! We’ve poured a lot of late nights into getting this MVP across the finish line. We would love for you to try it out, see how it handles your kitchen snacks, and let us know how we can make it better! 🔗 Live App (Vercel): 💻 GitHub Repository: 📝 Share Your Feedback: Can't wait to hear your thoughts, feature requests, or bug reports in the comments below! 👇
