How much would changing cities move your FIRE date?

by

I kept rebuilding the same spreadsheet to answer one question:

If I kept the same income and savings rate but lived somewhere else, how many years could that remove from my path to financial independence?
I lived in Bali for a long time earning money from abroad to speed up my FIRE date and I tought that I can create a software to do it, motivate other people to take care about their retirement.

Most FIRE calculators treat your location and living costs as fixed. Cost-of-living platforms compare cities, but they rarely show what those differences do to your actual FI timeline.

That led me to build IndepAI, which compares more than 11,400 cities using your income, spending, savings, and net worth.

I’m curious how other people think about location in their FIRE planning:

• Would you seriously relocate to reach FI several years earlier?

• What would matter most besides cost: taxes, visas, safety, healthcare, community, or something else?

• Which two cities would you want to compare?

Share your current city and one place you might move to. I’ll run a few example comparisons and post the results here.
