It is believed that the word "cosplay" was coined by the Japanese journalist Takahashi in 1983, and the subculture of dressing up as characters in films and comics allegedly also originated in Japan in the late 1970s. However, American researcher Ron Miller proves that cosplay took shape in the USA already in the 1960s – in the Sci-Fi genre. And the very first "cosplay", in the modern sense of the word, dates back to 1939.
Reincarnation in various roles, consisting in dressing up in costumes and transferring the character, body plasticity and facial expressions of characters from computer games, movies, literature, comics, anime and manga. As a rule, this hobby involves making a costume and elements of the attributes of the selected character. This has some connection with the role-playing movement, as well as with historical reconstruction.
