IdleDev v2 is out πŸŽ‰- Massive Upgrades

byβ€’

Hey everyone !

Just shipped a big update to IdleDev and wanted to share it here first.

Quick recap if you haven't seen it: IdleDev fills the dead time in your AI coding sessions. While Claude, Codex, Gemini (etc.) are thinking or running tools, a clean sponsor sidebar runs right beside your agent in the terminal. Developers get paid for that idle screen time, advertisers get a direct line to devs. No tracking pixels, no popups.

What changed in v2:

  • Live sidebar ads. Headlines, and link, sitting next to your agent instead of a cramped status bar

  • Way more agents supported. Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, OpenCode, Aider, Hermes, and OpenClaw 🀩

  • Smoother and faster. Redesigned UI, cleaner rotation, less jank, light and dark modes

  • Impression-based pricing for advertisers. Buy exactly the number of impressions you want, no bidding games

  • Better analytics for companies running campaigns

  • 🌍 Global payments are live. Advertisers anywhere can pay now

Install (or upgrade):

npm i -g idledev-cli
idledev signin <your-token>
idledev claude

Already on the old version? Just run:

npm i -g idledev-cli@latest
idledev install

Full setup guide (Windows and Mac, all the agents):

Would genuinely love feedback from this community.

Interesting idea. I spend quite a bit of time waiting for AI agents to think, run commands, or process large tasks, so turning that otherwise wasted screen space into something useful is clever.

I'm curious though, have you noticed whether developers actually click the ads, or is the value mainly coming from impressions and brand awareness?

Hi Hossein!

We track impressions, clicks and also flag and detect frauds like bots and unusual traffic. There is massive brand awareness and also the ads clicks. For the earning model, we pay more to users for clicking than impression.

Awesome updates, now you support opencode, I definitely plan to give it a go, just haven't had time to take a deeper look. I'm curious to how you handle privacy, tracking etc. I don't like any apps that track anything, especially when I am using AI tooling.

Hi Brent!
Glad you liked the updates!
None of your code goes to servers, we only track what's ours, the ad and the link, user code is never captured. We track earnings through clicks and impressions which is for how much time an ad is shown to you.

Β Sounds good - going to give it go today. Will let you know how it goes.
