How are you running agents that take longer than you're willing to watch?

by

Building HolyCode Cloud, a Linux workstation that keeps running when you disconnect, and launching it here Tuesday.

Before that I'd rather ask than pitch. The thing I keep hitting: hand an agent a long task, close the laptop, and whatever it was halfway through is gone. Not paused. Gone, with no way to tell how far it got.

Most fixes I see are workarounds for the same root cause. tmux on a VPS. A laptop propped open with sleep disabled. Or people just stop giving agents work longer than a coffee break.

So: what do you actually do today? And if you've landed on something that works, what broke before you got there?
