Heron data makes it 100x easier for Fintechs to build features on top of bank and card transactions. Integrate our simple API and focus on your customers
Dom, Johannes, and I are the Founders of Heron Data - an API that normalises, categorises, and enriches bank and card transactions. We want to make it ridiculously easy for Fintechs who host accounts, issue cards, or pull data from Plaid / Yodlee / etc. to extract insights and build features on transaction data.
We came across this problem when building our first Fintech. We spent tons of time writing regexes, populating a merchant database, building NLP, NER, and deep learning models for categorisation, etc. It turned out all other Fintechs did too. So many companies wanted to use our internal tooling that we decided to focus on this problem full time and now enrich over 1m transactions each day.
We hear time and time again that transaction APIs are focused on consumer use cases and so wanted to share our SMB-focused offering with the PH community today.
Some use cases are showcased above but we know that lots more can be done with transaction data when it's clean and normalised. Looking forward to see what Product Hunt will build on top of Heron. If you have any questions, use cases in your company, or want to test us out please comment or email jamie@herondata.io - we're happy to chat.
You can check out a short video demo of the API in action here:

@jamie_parker great demo. Very simple, direct, and clearly shows how the product works. What is your favorite feature a customer has built on top of transaction data so far?
@rolanddeep Thanks Roland! There are a lot to choose from but I know that the folks over at https://floatcard.com/ (who are awesome) save each of their customers 4-5 hours a week by allowing them to add merchant-level rules when spend data into their accounting packages. Check them out if you ever open a presence in Canada.
Locking cards to individual merchants prior to a transaction also used to be unbelievably hard but with Heron is relatively trivial process.
@j_sherz hey John, great question! You can post data from any of the 10k financial institutions in the US or any card issuer. One of the fun things about the API is that it normalises the data you get into a regular format, allowing you to build rules / features no matter which institution you’re pulling from.
