Heirloom Table is a private, on-device app for preserving family recipes — and the voices behind them. Record a grandmother, a mother, an uncle telling the real story behind a dish: who taught it to them, what occasion it's tied to, what's changed over the years. No accounts, no ads, no analytics — everything stays on your phone unless you choose to back it up to your own private iCloud. Recipes get written down. The stories almost never do, until it's too late to ask.

Every family has a recipe that only makes sense with the story attached. The one that isn't quite right unless you know who used to make it, what kitchen it came from, what occasion it shows up for every year. Write down the ingredients and you get a recipe. Lose the person who tells it, and you lose the only part that made it yours. That's the gap Heirloom Table exists to close. Recipe apps are everywhere. None of them ask the question that actually matters to a family: who taught you this, and can we hear them say it in their own words, before we can't? So I built an app that treats a recipe as a starting point, not the whole story. Record a voice memo from a grandmother, a mother, an uncle — each on the same dish, each in their own words, saved next to the recipe itself. When the blank page feels intimidating, gentle prompts help someone find where to start. And for the people whose stories feel most urgent to capture, there's a quiet nudge to record one soon — never a push notification, never anything that turns a tender subject into a task. Just a soft reminder, easy to dismiss, there when you're ready.
