HAwake - Old Android devices as Home Assistant voice satellites

by•
Turn an old tablet, phone or wall panel into a Home Assistant voice satellite. Wake word detection runs on the device (ONNX); speech-to-text via HA Assist, offline Vosk or Android's recognizer. Audio stays in your network unless you pick Google STT. 2.99 USD.

Hi everyone,

I built HAwake to give old tablets and phones a job: a dedicated voice satellite for Home Assistant, mounted on the wall or lying around.

What it does:

- Always-listening wake word with on-device ONNX models (for example "Hey Mycroft"). There is a public training tool for custom wake words at github.com/IT-BAER/hawake-wakeword

- Three recognition modes: HA Assist (audio streamed to your Home Assistant), Vosk (fully offline on the device) or Android's native speech recognition.

- Voice activity detection so silence does not burn CPU on old hardware.

- Optional restriction to your home Wi-Fi so it does not trigger while you are away.

Needs a running Home Assistant instance and Android 8 or newer. Paid app, 2.99 USD one time, no subscription. Not affiliated with Nabu Casa or the official Home Assistant app. Docs at hawake.net/docs

Feedback welcome.
