Most guitarists can play scales. Far fewer can hear them, so true... Hello fellow guitarist, today I want to share a side project I am working on since last year. Playing myself for many years, on and of, but one area I am quite bad at is ear training, so recognizing easily notes when hearing them, finding them on the guitar, recognizing chords, and so on. I guess as an engineer, I focused more on technique, scales, and other stuff.  So I built something to fix it: GuitarBuddy, an ear training app for iPhone, iPad and macOS. The feature I'm most excited about in the latest update is the Melody Journey — 100 progressive levels that start approachable and gradually work up through more complex scales, modes, and melodic patterns. The structure matters: open-ended practice is easy to quit. A level to beat is not. I'm currently at level 50. It's getting hard :) The app also includes: - Interval training - Chord recognition - Metronome and tuner - An explore section for scales, chords, and intervals If you want to train your ear — give it a go.
