Honestly, I started Group Study Timer because I was tired of seeing study apps that were basically just a timer with a bunch of unnecessary stuff around it.
I wanted something that made studying feel a little more competitive and social. Like, you could hop into a group, study with other people, see your progress, and actually have a reason to come back tomorrow because you don't want to lose your spot on the leaderboard.
It started as a pretty simple idea — just a timer for studying together. Then I kept building whatever I felt was missing: groups, leaderboards, analytics, profiles, achievements, etc.
The other thing that mattered to me was keeping the core experience free. Students shouldn't have to deal with ads everywhere or pay just to use a basic study timer.
It's definitely grown way beyond what I originally imagined, but the main idea is still the same:
Make studying feel less lonely, and maybe make it a little more fun to compete while doing it.
