Hey everyone! I built Glimpse because I kept downloading flashcard apps and never actually opening them. The friction of starting a study session was enough to make me skip it every time. But I pick up my phone dozens of times a day and my home screen is just sitting there doing nothing. So I started building an iOS widget that shows my flashcards right on the home screen. Every time I glance at my phone, there's something to learn. No app to open, no session to commit to. The hardest part was WidgetKit. Apple widgets aren't actually live views. They're pre-rendered snapshots with strict memory and refresh limits. Making quizzes and flashcards feel interactive within those constraints took a lot of creative problem solving. I built the whole thing solo: Swift and SwiftUI on iOS, Rails and PostgreSQL on the backend. It's free with generous limits and I'm still in the early days of figuring out growth. Would love to hear your thoughts, especially on whether the widget angle resonates or if there's something you'd want it to do differently.
