FrontStage - FrontStage - the Backstage alternative that runs on 1 GB RAM

by
Most teams don't need Backstage — they need something that actually runs on their infra without a dedicated platform team. FrontStage is a lightweight open-source developer portal: software catalog, service ownership, team pages — built on Python + YAML. No TypeScript, no React, no 16 GB RAM. • Runs on 1 GB RAM • DevOps-friendly stack • AI/RAG-ready YAML catalog • Docker Compose in 2 commands

Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I built FrontStage after spending way too long trying to get Backstage running for a mid-size team — only to realize we were maintaining the portal more than using it. FrontStage does the same job: one place to answer "who owns this service?" and "where's the runbook?" — but the whole thing runs on a $5 VPS and your DevOps team can extend it without touching React or TypeScript. The thing I'm most excited about: the YAML catalog is trivially easy to feed into an LLM. You can literally paste your existing docs and generate the catalog with Claude in one command.
