I built Gistra because Youtube is a goldmine of information everyone from students to marketers, but it's a pain to search through. While there are many other transcript download tools out there, I wanted to approach Gistra as a tool for building a knowledge base. I knew it needed tools like semantic search to find the content you're looking for and numerous download format options to make connecting it to other tools easy. I integrated more state-of-the-art LLM models into the AI actions and chat to get more consistent results. I added citations and clickable timestamps to the AI output so you can easily verify the information by skipping to the time in the embedded player. Basically, I wanted Gistra to be as reliable as possible. If you're studying for a test or building a report at work, you shouldn't worry about whether or not your information is bogus. I also thought a lot about pricing. Most other tools try to lock you into subscriptions. While a subscription is fine for a consistent workload, I thought that many people could benefit from more flexible pricing options like pay-as-you-go. In the future I hope to add more inputs, like user-uploaded audio files or PDFs. But mostly I'm looking forward to talking and listening to my users to see what they want.
