As the maker there were so many reasons I wanted to release this feature: 1 - I found that most people are fine attending online events (as long as it's interesting) but finding events that you're interested in, is either random ads on social media or in an industry newsletter/s you sign up for. Fine, but you're at the mercy of their ad targeting and having time to scan endless newsletters for something you may want to go to. 2 - All the social media platforms that are selling ads to event managers, are using your data and just profiting off it, and giving you nothing back for it. It's your data and your attention they are selling... Why aren't you getting paid for that? 3 - I am constantly missing out on events because I learn about them too late or not at all. 4 - Event managers want to get a more targeted audience, so if they have a way to filter a list of people who have expressly stated they are interested in a topic, and they are happy to attend online, then its a super targeted message to people that actually want to get notified. 5 - Did I mention that you should get paid for your attention? FAQ: Will I get a million emails? No, you will only get notified of events you have expressly stated you want to be notified of. How do I get paid: Any email you open and interact with will add a % of the cost charged to the event manager to your account. You can either cash withdrawal, donate to a charity, or convert to a visa card. Are you just creating a list? No, Bettercast is a hybrid/virtual event platform, that caters to all sorts of events globally, and we want to try to add more value to the community, by making event discovery easier for you, and more targeted for the event managers. How much will I earn? There will be a sliding scale of how much an event manager will be charged for each email, based on behavioral signals of the attendees, so the more you attend events, the more you will get paid. We're anticipating around 25 - 75% of the cost to the event manager will go to you.
