GeoGit - Rank the top software developers by location

Hello 👋 I'm Jack. I'm a CS student from Dublin, I'm new to programming and wanted to improve my web development skills, which resulted in this project, GeoGit. 🤨 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗚𝗶𝘁? GeoGit is a platform that connects you to the heartbeat of software development scenes around the world, offering businesses and individuals the ability to identify leading software developers within their own region or an expansive view of global talent. ❓𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗚𝗶𝘁? I started GeoGit as I was finding it difficult to find other developers in my city who were excelling in the industry. Platforms like LinkedIn and GitHub, while useful, didn't quite cut it in painting an objective picture of the local software development scene. So I thought I could build a platform that shows a more definitive picture of the community's standout developers. ⚙️ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸? Start by entering a location, It can be a big or small. The top developers across GitHub, GitLab and BitBucket are compiled and ranked on metrics such as follower count, most starred repo, public commits this year and public repositories. A ranking is then made and displayed to the user. 📱 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 • Networking Opportunities Connect with peers locally and globally. This can lead to collaborative projects, mentorship opportunities, and potentially career advancements. • Increased Visibility By showcasing their skills and projects, developers can gain recognition within their local community and beyond. This visibility can be crucial for freelance developers or those seeking new career opportunities. • Community Awareness Keeps developers in tune with their local tech community by providing insights into the top developers, helping users stay connected and engaged with regional tech trends and opportunities. • Collaboration For those looking to build a team or collaborate on projects, GeoGit's ability to focus on local talent simplifies the search for compatible and skilled partners. Again, this was mainly a project to improve my web development skills, so take the rankings with a grain of salt.
