Would you use an app to track your house construction?
Exploring an idea and would love honest feedback.
Families building their own home in India usually track everything through WhatsApp, a notebook and memory: stage-wise payments to the contractor, material bills, design changes and what they cost, and warranties at the end.
The idea is one app the family pays for and shares with their contractor:
- every stage with photos and its payment
- every bill saved in one place
- every change priced and approved before work starts
- a complete record of the house at handover
What I am unsure about:
1. Would contractors agree to use it, or push back?
2. Would families prefer one payment for the whole build, or a small monthly fee while it lasts?
3. If you have built a house, what went wrong that an app like this would have caught?
Nothing to sign up for yet. Just checking whether the problem is real before building it.

The problem sounds real, the WhatsApp plus notebook combination is exactly where approved changes get disputed later. On your second question, I would lean towards one payment for the whole build. A house has an end, and a monthly fee on a project that runs late feels like a penalty for the contractor's delays, charged to the family. In my own app I sell credit packs that never expire next to the subscription, because some people just want to pay once for a known thing. For contractors, I would make their side free and as light as a photo plus a confirm button. If it costs them more effort than a WhatsApp message, they will keep sending WhatsApp messages.
