Would you trust a fitness app more if it showed less data?

by

I keep noticing the same problem in fitness apps.

The more “advanced” they try to look, the more numbers they put on the screen.

Scores, percentages, charts, readiness, recovery, fatigue.

At some point I stop knowing what I’m actually supposed to do.

I’m working through this problem right now and I’m leaning toward showing less: one clear recommendation, a simple explanation of why, and the deeper data only when someone wants it.

But there’s a tradeoff.

Too little information can make the system feel like a black box. Too much makes it feel like a dashboard instead of a coach.

For people who use fitness or health apps regularly: what’s the minimum amount of information you need before you trust a recommendation?
