Why do we star GitHub repos we never actually use?
by•
I clean out my starred tab every few months and realize half the projects I bookmarked were just because the documentation looked sleek or the demo video was satisfying to watch. But the ones I actually keep starred long-term usually come down to whether the maintainer is actively replying to edge-case issues in the discussions. A star feels less like a bookmark and more like a vote of confidence that the repo isn't going to get abandoned next month. What makes you click that star button, and do you ever go back and un-star dead projects?
