Which channel actually got you a customer, and which one just feels like work?
I keep catching myself confusing activity with progress, so I want to hear other people's version of this.
Mine, honestly. We are building a presence before launching. Four days, just under 50 comments across Reddit, here, and Indie Hackers. The number that actually matters is two, because that is how many real conversations came out of all of it.
What worked was disagreeing with someone politely and being specific about why. Both of the two came from that. What did nothing at all was agreeing, congratulating, or being generically helpful. Volume was not the variable, and I spent a lot of the four days believing it was.
The one that stung: an entire subreddit had been silently deleting everything we posted for two days. Removed comments still look completely normal to the person who wrote them, so a chunk of what felt like work was never visible to a single human being.
So, two questions. Which channel has actually produced a customer or a real conversation for you? And which one do you keep doing mainly because it feels like work?
I am more interested in the second one, because I suspect most of us have one and nobody puts it in their launch recap.

direct DMs on X brought us real clients. LinkedIn mostly just felt like busy work.
silent deletion on Reddit is so irritating.
Twitter replies got me one paying user. Cold DMs feel like work and produced nothing but polite silence. What made your two conversations stick past the first reply?
