What’s the #1 mistake you keep seeing on Product Hunt launches?
It’s especially frustrating when it happens to someone you actually know, not just another random launch in the feed.
I met this guy on Twitter a while ago. We vibed. Chatted for weeks.
Exchanged ideas, helped each other, the build-in-public energy.
At one point, he mentioned that he was planning to launch on Product Hunt “sometime soon.”
No date, no month, just a general “in the future.”
At some point, he mentioned he was building something cool.
Said he’d launch it “soon" on Product Hunt.
And then… he vanished.
Disappeared from my timeline.
No updates, no teasers, just quiet.
Until today: when I saw that he launched yesterday.
And I missed it.
No tweet, no DMs, no WhatsApp message.
Which means he missed my vote.
And probably a lot of others, too.
It’s wild how we forget to tell the people most likely to support us.
So here’s what I always recommend:
1/ Make a teaser page
2/ Talk about your launch at least a week or two before
3/ On launch day, be present: tweet, reply, DM
Most people want to help.
But they can’t if they don’t know.
