What is something that you stopped using and really don't miss?

I kept an extremely organized Notion space for two winters. Linked databases, roll-ups, a weekly review template that had eleven properties. It looked wonderful in screenshots. Then one Monday morning, I noticed I had spent forty minutes organizing my Notion space and zero minutes working on the work I needed to get done.

So I scrapped most of it. Now I just keep one text file for the week and use Apple Reminders for anything with a due date. That’s all. I’m less productive when things are written down, but I get more done, which is mostly because I can’t hide behind organizing.

What I’ve learned is that it’s the minimal amount of maintenance that a tool requires once it’s set up that makes a tool a good fit. If anything requires gardening, then it’s not a productivity tool but a hobby, and there’s nothing wrong with that as long as you’re being truthful with yourself.

I wonder what else people decided to give up. Maybe it was a note-taking app, a project management board, a habit tracker? And maybe you decided to stop because you realized that the issue wasn’t the tool after all.

Kanban boards for solo projects. I moved cards between columns more than I moved code. Now it's a markdown file in the repo with what I'm doing today, and git history is my log of what got done.
