Managing relationships
I would say creating and managing relationships to enhance value for both the parties.
Be genuinely helpful and respect others and their time.
Being helpful is always welcome everywhere.
To me, it's being service-minded and finding ways to provide value to others.
I am totally with you on this. Service minded also demonstrates inner leadership IMHO. It is said the hand that gives is always on the top.
For me, it's all about knowledge sharing and having a sense of belonging with the like minded people that otherwise would be impossible to find in the offline world.
Hidden gem for sure on the knowledge sharing. It is also said that knowledge when shared is doubled and sadness shared is halved.
For me it's connecting others! Facilitating connections among other community members with similar interests.
We are here connecting with each other. Aren't we ?
A group of people who can provide shared value or support to one another, personally and/or professionally. Lately, I've seen it overused as a buzzword for people to put themselves in the spotlight, but there's obviously value in community building when done right.
Value - given or taken is equally absorbed for the benefit of all. As highlighted by you clearly, this is beneficial when done right.
Networking and Helping others
I think it can definitely be different for different communities. At the heart of it is being aligned in the same direction and being willing to design value for everyone, as we're all at different stages of the community journey. It would be interesting to ask the question for the community you serve... For Product Hunt for example, what is the core value? Helping people create and discover successful products?
In a way you are right as it will be specific to each community. However in the end, a community/tribe is always about going towards a similar journey achieving something together and bringing more value for all. That is the basic definition of a community or a tribe.
Definitely tone. Creating a positive tone with ever relation that is built.
Being honest and helpful. Think of each other and support one another. Any community has a topic that attracts like-minded people and creates discussions around it.
