What have you learned from investing time in things done for exposure, like making Giphy gifs?

I'm doing this, just hit 1M views in two weeks, not yet seeing a real rise in signups or sales, though they all have links associated with the GIFs. Suggestions? If you have a Giphy channel to share, something we could use as a model to learn from, please do.
