What are your views on remote work? Is this the future or just a phase?

As an African with non-tech background, I find remote work to be liberating and more rewarding. I’m curious to know your views on remote work.

Remote working is not good enough for freshers in any field and on the other hand, it is just best when it comes to traveling expenses. Thus, a hybrid work culture is what I think is best.

@excellentweb_australia yes best way to learn is being surrounded by team. Hybrid is good for experienced.
I really like that I am free to choose a location when I work remotely. It's important to me. I feel more comfortable working at home than in the office. Or I can work in a coworking whenever I want or from a cafe. It seems to me that soon everyone will switch to remote work. It's profitable. No need to rent offices.
I think remote work is the future. It is a natural evolution from the current state of affairs. The way we work today is in large part the result of the economic crisis of 2008. It was a time when it was easy to move from one job to another, but the system didn’t have the capacity to handle the increase in demand. We had to be flexible, and we had no choice but to work remotely.

@igor_sadkin As a product manager, how do you deal with colleagues having different preferences for flexible work? Does it cause any issues?

I started my career the remote way, and now I can't even imagine working in a different way.

@andreea_almonacid How did you get started with a career the remote way?

With remote vs office, I don't think it's an either/or situation. Both will continue to have their place. People are all different with different preferences.
However, I think the more our tools and practices evolve to allow companies to create great company culture without relying entirely on office culture, the more inevitable and popular remote work will become :)

Different companies have different cultures. Some workplaces are requiring their employees to the office just because the business has expensive commercial leases they can’t get out of…and some of these businesses even own their office space
We all need balance, and I would use remote work to ensure our productivity stays the same when we have personal needs which needs to be taken care of.
Among the numerous bad effects of the pandemic, remote work feasibility is one good thing that has happened. I believe this is going to be the next phase of work life evolution.
