🚨 The biggest AI productivity lie I've believed this year.

Everyone says AI makes developers faster.

I think that's only half true.

AI definitely helps me write code faster.

But recently I noticed something strange.

The faster I built...

the slower I became at making decisions.

Why?

Because AI never runs out of ideas.

Every prompt becomes:

"Here's another feature."

"Here's another improvement."

"Here's another optimization."

Suddenly you're choosing between fifty good ideas instead of focusing on the one that actually matters.

Ironically...

Code stopped being the bottleneck.

Decision-making became the bottleneck.

Now I keep one simple rule.

Before I ask AI to build something, I answer one question first:

What customer problem becomes impossible to ignore if I don't solve it today?

Everything else goes into the backlog.

AI made building cheaper.

That means attention has become more expensive.
