Substack, Revue, Mailchimp, or Ghost? Which service would you use to launch a newsletter today?

They Got Acquired
If I were starting today, I’d probably make the decision based on what I want in year one versus year three.
Substack is still the simplest way to get moving if writing and publishing speed matter most. Ghost is more appealing if control matters and you’re willing to own more of the setup. Mailchimp makes more sense when the newsletter is part of a broader business already, not the center of it.
Where people get stuck is assuming this is only a newsletter decision. A lot of the pain shows up later, when you want the audience, products, memberships, and community to feel like one business instead of a bunch of connected tools.
I work on DukieX, so I naturally lean toward that broader creator-business view, but that’s the question I’d answer first before picking any of these.
