Product Hunt notifications don't clear once you've answered them

Went through my notifications today and found what looked like two separate unanswered messages from the same person on the same thread. Both showed up in the notification list looking equally new.

Opened the actual thread instead of trusting the list, and one of the two already had my reply sitting under it from a few hours earlier. The notification just never went away after I answered it.

Same thing happened with a second thread a few minutes later, different person, same pattern. Replying straight from the notification list both times would have posted a duplicate answer to someone who already had one.

The fix is boring: open the actual thread and read the current state before replying, never trust the notification list's face value. It just means every notification takes an extra step most people probably skip.

Anyone else run into this, or do you generally reply straight from the notification list?
