My repo is 1,038 days old. The git log says I worked on it on 103 of them.
I ran git log on my main project this morning instead of writing code.
First commit is 1 November 2023. Today is day 1,038. There are 550 commits in it, spread across 103 distinct days. 935 days have nothing at all.
The longest silence is 285 days, 1 March 2024 to 12 December 2024. I could not have told you that gap existed. In my head those months were slow, not empty.
24 of the 103 active days carry exactly one commit. The two heaviest carry 32 each, 5 July and 8 July 2026.
So the thing I call a three year project is 103 working days with long quiet stretches around them. The plan was never the problem. Every rewrite of the plan was fine. The log measures attendance instead, and those are not the same thing.
What does your own log say about the year you think you were building?

The 285 day gap is the part that got me. my memory would probably describe that period as slow progress rather than almost a full stop.
@uthappa_robb Those 103 active days say more than the three year label to me. It makes me wonder how many projects I’ve mentally counted as ongoing when I barely touched them
