🏗️ Is building in public still worth it?

by•

A couple of years ago, sharing revenue numbers and progress updates on X felt like a cheat code. Now my feed is full of “Day 47 of building my SaaS” posts, and I’m not sure anyone is reading them anymore, including me.

I’ve been posting updates, and it’s brought honest result, e.g. some founder friends, but very few actual customers.

Has building in public brought you real customers, or mostly other builders?

If you still do it, what kind of posts actually get traction for you?

Trying to decide whether to keep going or put that time into something else............

how do you actually track whether building in public brings customers? Do you ask in onboarding where people heard about you or is it more of a gut feeling?

For Beat AI, posting more hasn’t translated into confirmed first photo uploads. I’m now asking people to try one complete entry and tell me where they stop. Useful feedback beats another progress update. I track uploads separately from views; our optional tracking also means the numbers are incomplete.
