I audited my own launched site for SEO. Here's what I got wrong.

Two months after launching, I searched for my own site on Google and couldn't find it. So I ran a proper audit. Here's the checklist and what I found, in case yours has the same gaps. Things I had right • A sitemap at /sitemap.xml • A correct robots.txt (public pages open, private ones blocked, sitemap linked) • Analytics installed Things I got wrong 1. Every page had the same title and description. Home, login, contact and pricing all said "Get Brutally Roasted by AI." Google can't tell the pages apart. 2. No canonical tag. My site lived on two domains (the old Vercel one and my custom one), so Google could see duplicates. 3. No Open Graph tags. Links shared on X, WhatsApp and LinkedIn showed as plain text with no image or preview. 4. My H1 was just my brand name. It told Google nothing about what the app does. 5. My pricing page redirected logged-out visitors to login. Google can't read a page it can't open, yet it was still in my sitemap. 6. No structured data (JSON-LD). The step most people skip: Google Search Console. Add your domain, submit your sitemap, and use "Request indexing" on your homepage. Without it you're waiting for Google to stumble onto you. Do the same in Bing Webmaster Tools. None of this costs money. It's about an afternoon of work. I'm fixing all of it this week and will share what changes in indexing. What did you wish you'd done before launch? Or if you've fixed this already, which change made the biggest difference?
