How do you know when a marketing channel is no longer worth the effort?
by•
Sometimes a channel brings steady traffic but very few people actually become customers. It’s tempting to keep going because the numbers still look good especially when you’ve already spent months working on it. I think the hard part is knowing whether to give it more time or move that effort somewhere else. What do you usually look at before deciding to stop investing in a channel?

I’d look at conversions and customer quality before deciding. Traffic feels encouraging, but it needs to bring the right people to be worth the effort
For me, customer acquisition cost is a big signal. If another channel brings in customers more efficiently, I’d start shifting effort there.
i think the hardest part is separating a channel that needs more time from one that simply isn’t working. Having a clear review period helps me avoid endless guessing.
Compare where people drop off with visitors from another channel
If every source stalls at the same signup step fix that step first. If only this channel brings people who never reach the useful action changing the audience may help more than posting more
A coding agent built referral tracking and silently dropped payloads into an unmapped table. The issue was not the broken code, but the agent confirming everything was healthy right up until raw server logs were checked and the channel had to be killed.
