How are solo founders using AI for early customer outreach without losing authenticity?
I’m currently trying to find the first customers for my startup, and I don’t yet have the budget to hire a marketing specialist or agency.
AI has become my temporary marketing assistant. I use it to:
research potential customer segments;
review and improve outreach messages;
prepare questions for customer-discovery calls;
analyze replies and identify patterns;
turn marketing experiments into clear next steps.
However, I still research each company, personalize the message and send every outreach email myself. The difficult part is finding the right balance between saving time and sounding like another automated sales message.
For founders who found their first customers through direct outreach: which parts did you automate, which parts did you keep manual, and what actually helped you receive replies?

I use AI for the research and first draft, but I always personalize the final message myself. The biggest improvement in reply rates has come from showing that I actually understand the recipient's business, rather than making the email sound more polished.
@hosseinyazdi To be honest, most of the time I'm using AI generated texts. The reason is that I'm very bad in writing. I'm good technical guy. Other than that - I'm reading suggested text and make a little changes. For me, text written but someone else looks better for me rather then my text.
