Hey, what did you build instead of doing sales this week?

by

This week I rewrote our feature descriptions. Again. Third version.

What I didn't do was write to the eight people who said "ping me when it's ready" three weeks ago.

And I guess that editing copy gives me a finished thing at the end of the day. Sending those eight emails gives me eight chances to be ignored, and no way to tell if I did it well or badly.

Building always feels like progress. Selling only feels like progress in hindsight. So I hope it's not laziness.

What was yours this week?

And if you've beaten this, I'd really like to know how.

I do this all time. Building feels safe but sending emails is scary. Did you finally send those 8 emails today?

Same trap here. I'll polish a landing page for hours before I'll send one follow up email. What finally got you to send the eighth version?

Mine was polishing a landing page headline for two hours when i already knew who i should have emailed.

I would probably set a rule no feature work until the outstanding warm leads are contacted. otherwise the easy work always wins.

This week i added another tiny feature instead of asking a customer why they hadnt converted. i knew which conversation mattered more.

I think the fix is making sales a task not a mood. if it sits on a to do list, i cant negotiate with it.

rewriting copy is especially dangerous because it feels directly connected to sales. sometimes its just procrastination wearing a marketing hat.

Eight warm follow ups would probably teach you more than the fourth version of the feature descriptions. thats the uncomfortable truth.

My version was tweaking a product demo instead of booking another call. i kept telling syself it needed to be ready
