Ever catch yourself getting angrier at an AI chatbot than at a real person?
by•
I’m following a research project looking at how people interact with LLMs, and early results show people actually get more frustrated with AI chatbots than with humans, just for small errors.
Maybe it’s because we expect AI to be perfect, so when it fails, it feels different, like it understands the yelling but you can’t really empathize with it.
Anyone else notice this weird “AI rage” cycle? How do you deal with it when your AI assistant just doesn’t get it?
Would love to hear your thoughts and stories!

I never got mad if I used it, sometimes it does something wrong but that's normal. It depends on the quality of the prompt, I don't use AI much but I can make a good prompt xd

@ixord Good point... sometimes the answer really depends on how the LLM is customized, including its rules, tone, and available tools.
I get especially angry when one AI and another AI give different answers to the same question, with the exact same prompt. You just reminded me that yesterday I was calculating a number on Gemini and Grok and they gave me two different answers? I went with Grok's but completely forgot about it after work, and now I have to go double-check.

@lyss_luo Totally get you. Spent today cursing at 4 different AIs. Wanted to build a project in Go, never used it as a low-level language before, and in the end I just had to write the code myself. Neither GPT-5, Claude Sonnet, Gemini, nor Copilot with GPT-4 could solve it. Sometimes these AIs just make you want to throw your laptop out the window
