Does your end-of-day update do justice to everything you worked on?

by

Claude Code helps me keep my Jira tickets updated, but I am not convinced those updates help me or anyone else on the team.

They record the outcome, while the useful context often disappears: what I investigated, which approaches failed, why I changed direction, and what remains uncertain. The ticket looks current, but a teammate still cannot understand the work without asking me.

What would make an automated update genuinely useful to your team, beyond keeping the ticket status current?

if someone has to massage me after reading the ticket i know the updates wasn't complete. that's a good test for me.

i think a good upadte should tell the story nit just the results. even a few extra line can make a big difference.

i still add my own notes after AI updates. they save the results but not always the thinking behind it.

honestly the "why" is the part I'd actually want automated, not the status. what failed and what changed my mind is what saves me from re-explaining everything in standup.
