Does posting rejected threads hurt you on product hunt? how does approval actually work?

Had a thread rejected recently, still not fully sure why.
Got me wondering about a few things and figured i'd just ask directly instead of guessing.
Does getting a thread rejected affect your account in any way, algorithm, visibility, standing, anything like that? or is it just a one-off, no consequence, try again kind of thing?
Also curious how the approval process actually works. is it a human reviewing each thread, some automated filter, a mix of both? trying to understand what actually triggers a rejection so i'm not accidentally repeating the same mistake without knowing what it was.
If anyone from the team or anyone who's been rejected before can share how this actually works, would genuinely appreciate it.

I've seen threads get rejected pretty faster so i'm also curious how much of the process is automated these days.
I had one rejected yesterday and one approved today, so here is the only comparison I can offer.
Both were in p/general and both were the same kind of write up about something that broke in our own infrastructure. The rejected one closed with a line saying the thing I had just described is something I sell. The approved one carries that same disclosure in its second sentence and closes with a question instead. Nothing else meaningful changed between them. Whether a person or a filter made either call I genuinely do not know, and I would rather not guess in a thread where someone might act on it.
One practical thing worth knowing. A rejected thread still shows on your own profile as though it is live, body intact. Fetch its URL while logged out and you get a 404, where an approved one returns 200. That is how I found out the first one was gone rather than queued, and it is worth checking before you assume yours is still sitting in a review line.
On standing, I have no evidence either way. Mine was approved the next day, which is one data point rather than a rule.
