Do long emails actually show thoroughness or are we just avoiding hard decisions?

by•

I used to type out massive super detailed emails thinking I was being professional and covering all bases. Most of the time, the client would just skim the first two lines and completely miss the actual question I needed answered. It took me way too long to realize that writing a wall of text is usually just a way to hide behind information rather than getting straight to the point. Cutting my emails down to two or three sentences changed everything.

Do you find yourself over-explaining things just to feel like you've done enough work?
