Garden Clock - Turn your idle screen into a living garden

by
Garden Clock makes your idle screen come alive. 24 crafted scenes show the same garden room at every hour of the day, from 3am moonlight to 7pm golden hour. The scenes crossfade continuously as time passes. The garden is never quite the same twice. An analog clock sits naturally within the scene, readable from across the room. Apple Silicon and Intel native, macOS 13+, OLED safe with built-in burn-in protection. $19 · One-time purchase · Free updates

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I'm Scott, a full-stack engineer who spent 12 years in Silicon Valley before going independent. Garden Clock is one of the first products from my indie studio. The inspiration for Garden Clock came from looking out my own garden window, noticing the light in the sky as the day passed. I wondered if I could recreate the same useful beauty in a screensaver. The technical challenge turned out to be the images. AI generation drifts badly after 4-5 images in sequence, so I developed a "sandwiching" technique. First, I generated three anchor images (3am, 11am, 7pm), then I repeatedly asked a fresh AI agent to create the image between two existing ones. This kept drift from accumulating across all 24 scenes. The clock hands are drawn programmatically as SVGs in three styles (tapered, skeleton, spade), configurable in System Settings. Happy to answer any questions about the build — the Swift implementation, the image generation workflow, or anything else. And if you try it, I'd love to know what you think 🌿
