We started Eye with a simple but uncomfortable question: Why does protecting exam integrity have to come at the cost of candidate trust and privacy? Most proctored assessments today feel hostile to candidates and restrictive for institutions. Continuous recording, invasive surveillance, high bandwidth requirements, and opaque data practices have made online exams stressful for test takers and risky for organizations managing sensitive data. Our original goal was to make proctored assessments more candidate friendly, accessible, and fair, while giving institutions real control over how their assessment data is handled. As we explored the space further, we realised the problem wasn’t just how proctoring was done but where control lived. Many institutions already have assessment platforms they trust. What they lack is a proctoring layer that strengthens credibility without forcing them to replace systems, surrender data ownership, or compromise privacy. That insight led to Eye. Eye is built as proctoring as a service. Instead of replacing your assessment platform, we integrate directly into it. You manage your assessments exactly as you do today. Eye focuses on one job: securing them. Our event driven AI flags violations only when something meaningful happens. No constant recording. No unnecessary data capture. Institutions can customize policies, thresholds, and workflows to match their own standards, and for enterprise clients, proctoring data can be self hosted so it never leaves their control. The result is a system where: Candidates experience less intrusion and more trust Institutions retain ownership of their data Assessments remain credible, auditable, and defensible We believe assessment integrity shouldn’t rely on surveillance. It should be transparent, proportionate, and institution controlled. That’s the future we’re building with Eye, and we’re excited to learn from the Product Hunt community as we take the next steps.
