I’ve spent the last year and a half building something I wish I had during my student years — a time when managing expenses felt chaotic, confusing, and stressful. Constantly losing track of receipts and struggling to stay on budget pushed me to imagine a smarter, simpler way to handle personal finance. That idea became ExpenseBuddy (www.expensebuddy.it ). Here’s what it can do: Extract everything from a receipt — shop, place, date, time, tax details, and every single item, in any language. Just upload or snap a photo. Every expense gets auto-categorized based on your personal categories. Split bills the smart way. Instead of manually adding splits like Splitwise, you use an intuitive UI with options for custom amounts, equal splits, or item-level splits based on the AI-extracted items. Set budgets for custom categories — like $200 for smoking, groceries, travel, anything. Chat with your own AI finance agent — it knows your expenses, fetches insights by shop/date/category, helps you remember things, and even suggests ways to save. Export anything — PDF or CSV, filtered by date or category. I built all of this from scratch—researching, coding, designing, and refining—while juggling student life and work. It’s been tough, but also incredibly rewarding. Now I’m stepping into the next challenge: marketing. Sharing it, refining it with feedback, and seeing how it can genuinely help others who struggle with money management like I once did. #finance #expenses #freelance #vibes
